5 Places You Should Visit When in Brora

Scotland is home to many landmarks, activities, cities/towns and many things to do. Aside from the beautiful nature that it is home to, there is a lot of culture to embrace yourself with and enjoy whilst on your travels to the north of the British Isles.

Brora is no different, with many things for you and your family to do and get involved with. Brora is known for its beauty and scenic views. Being situated along the North Coast 500 route, there are many things in the surrounding area for you to see, but this does not mean that there aren’t any landmarks in Brora itself.

In this article, we will discuss Brora and some of our favourite places that you should visit  when in the region. They are all certainly exciting and will keep you busy when on your holidays.

Brora Beach

This is one of our favourite places to visit in Scotland. From the gorgeous, aquamarine coloured sea to the shimmering, silky sand covering the ground, it is a beach certainly worth visiting if you are someone who enjoys the eye-candy that the British Isles have to offer.

It is a unique beach with the ground being scattered in rocks and seaweed, giving it a tropical feeling like no other. It is a beach that seems out of place here in the United Kingdom, only because it is that beautiful that it competes with some of the best beaches in mainland Europe.

Loch Brora

With beautiful beaches being abundant in Scotland, this also applies to lakes, mountains, and a whole lot more nature. Loch Brora is a stunning body of water with beauty like no other.

If you are looking for somewhere with natural beauty, look no further than Loch Brora. It is also perfect for fishing with many flocking to the area every year to catch some of the most delicious fish.

Dunrobin Castle

This is a magnificent castle with a grand architecture and beautiful design. It currently has 189 rooms available for you to look through, making this the largest castle in the Northern Highlands.

It is a castle rich in history and culture, with it being built during the middle ages – over five hundred years ago. It was used as a naval hospital during the First World War and has since been opened up to the public for people to explore.

Brora Golf Club

If you are a fan of sports and want to get involved with a friendly game of golf, the Brora Golf Club is open and includes an 18-hole golf course for everyone to enjoy. Take your family and get started with golf, one of the nation’s favourite games.

The best thing about Brora Golf Club is that it is located very close to Brora Beach, so close in fact that you get to witness the beautiful scenery that the beach has to offer while playing golf at the same time, which is always a bonus.

Brora Distillery

Brora Distillery is located in the Brora town and is an excellent place to visit when on your travels. If you have an interest in history and alcohol, and want to learn more about the process of making alcohol, then this is certainly somewhere for you to visit.

It has been closed since 1983 with it being used as a visitor centre since then. However, in 2017, Diageo (the distillery owner) have announced that it will re-open with production resuming in 2020.
