Things To Do Near Brora in Scotland

Brora is a small village situated in the highlands region of Scotland. It is a special village, being placed along the North Coast 500, a route going across five hundred miles around the coast of the highlands.

It is a village lost in nature, with stunning beaches and picturesque views being commonplace in the Brora area. Many people come every year to experience the scenery that this village has to offer, and that is no surprise to those who live there.

When planning for your journey along the North Coast 500, or even a trip specifically to Brora in Scotland, it is always best to know the activities and attractions in the area beforehand. Luckily, there is a lot to do in this quaint yet charismatic village with a happy population wanting to show the rest of the world what Brora is all about.

Let’s take a look at the things you can do at Brora in Scotland, as there is a lot here to keep you occupied whilst on your trip in this gorgeous part of the British Isles.

Nature & Outdoors

With Brora being placed in such an untouched region of the country, it is not surprising that there is an abundance of nature in the area. Here are some of our favourite sights to see when staying at Brora in Scotland:

Loch Brora

Loch Brora is a gorgeous body of water located very close to Brora in Scotland. From the shimmering of the water to the mountains visible in the distance, this is nature at its finest and deserves a visit at least once in your lifetime.

If you are a fan of nature and want to see a body of water that is unique, Loch Brora should certainly be a place to visit on your trip.

Brora Beach

We all love the beach, who doesn’t?

Brora Beach is certainly no different. We assume that beaches in the United Kingdom are all like the typical seaside town, but this is not true. This beach is beautiful, reminiscent of beaches in other parts of the world such as the Mediterranean or the West Indies.

If you haven’t already visited, Brora Beach is a must for those who want to catch a bit of sun on their holidays and appreciate the beautiful blue sea.

Things To Do

There are many activities and attractions in Brora, but here are some of our favourites:

Dunrobin Castle

Dunrobin Castle is a magnificent building located at Brora in Scotland. Being built in the middle ages, it has a lot of history behind it. With it being large, it has 189 rooms and vast gardens.

Once used as a boarding school, it has been open to the public for a while now as a museum. If you are interested in the history of Scotland and the highlands area as a whole, Dunrobin Castle is certainly worth your visit.

Brora Distillery

Brora Distillery has been around for a long time now, famous for producing Malt Scotch Whisky (a favourite amongst Scots). Owned by Diageo, it has been used as a visitors centre since 1983.

However, recently Diageo have announced that it is reopening and production will now resume in the distillery. If you are interested in the production of alcohol and the history behind it, this is certainly a place worth visiting.
